For Erin Matusik, it started with a single Avanti Anisette from a shop in Gatlinburg.

Francis Hogan discovered Parodi Ammezzati in the mid-1980s when a typewriter repairman offered him one while working in his office.

For Tommy Brill, Avanti was already part of the family.
He grew up seeing his Italian uncles and grandfather smoke them before continuing the tradition himself.

For Peter Rabito, Avanti is part of bocce league nights and tournaments.
A longtime customer, he regularly buys a variety case and is rarely seen at a match without one.

Another customer found Parodi King while looking for a cigar to pair with bourbon. After trying more expensive cigars that did not have the flavor he wanted, he read about fire-cured tobacco and decided to give Parodi a try.
“Every Friday and Saturday for the last two years now is Parodi Kings and bourbon.”
The smoky flavor reminded him of charred bourbon barrels, and the pairing quickly became a weekend tradition.
