Heritage in Every Draw: Avanti Over the Years

May 7, 2026

Avanti has always been a brand rooted in tradition, but our story isn’t frozen in time. We started in 19th-century Italy, where cigar-making was a craft passed down through hands, not machines. That tradition eventually made its way across the Atlantic, shaping the foundation of what Avanti is today.

Over time, that heritage found a home in the United States, where we’ve continued the tradition in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. The evolution of Avanti has been steady and practical rather than dramatic, shaped by process, tobacco, and consistency more than anything else.

Here’s how that story has developed over the years.

A Heritage That Still Guides What We Do

The earliest influence on Avanti comes from Italian cigar-making traditions in the 1800s. These methods focused on straightforward craftsmanship and careful handling of tobacco rather than heavy processing.

When those traditions moved to the United States, they didn’t disappear. They adapted. That foundation eventually became the basis for Avanti’s approach, especially in how tobacco is treated and prepared.

That connection to old-world methods hasn’t been phased out of what we do. It’s been preserved because it still defines the brand–and it’s what continues to guide us today from our home in Dunmore, Pennsylvania.

Fire-Cured Tobacco and Kentucky Leaf as Our Core

The defining element of Avanti is our use of fire-cured Kentucky tobacco. This process uses controlled heat and smoke to develop a bold, distinctive character that sets our cigars apart.

Kentucky fire-cured leaf brings a strong, traditional profile that reflects a more hands-on approach to tobacco curing. It’s not about speeding things up or modernizing for convenience. It’s about maintaining a method that has been used for generations because it delivers a consistent and recognizable result.

Fire-cured Kentucky Tobacco is the core of our identity. Even as the cigar industry has changed around us, we’ve stayed committed to this process because it continues to define the experience of an Avanti cigar.

Staying True While Moving Forward

Our growth over the years has been gradual. We haven’t tried to reinvent what Avanti is. Instead, intentional changes have come slowly. We focus on consistency, so when you reach for an Avanti cigar, you know exactly what you’re getting.

The introduction of flavored cigars is a great example of this, such as options like Avanti Anisette and Avanti Bourbon. These were added to offer a different experience while still staying grounded in the same fire-cured Kentucky tobacco that defines our cigars. They reflect a balance between heritage and evolution.
